Tramadol - Side Effects

Tramadol has numerous side effects. These effects range from mild to severe. Some side effects may require emergent medical attention, while others are not as severe. Many patients may not receive any severe effects from the drug, and other patients may exhibit effects not mentioned below.

Allergic Reactions
Some patients may experience severe allergic reactions to Tramadol. Be sure to seek emergency medical attention if you have any of the following symptoms:
--swelling in the face, tongue, lips or throat
--hives
--trouble breathing

Serious Side Effects
You should call your physician immediately if you exhibit any of these side effects:
--irritability
--fever
--nausea
--vomiting
--fast heartbeat
--convulsions/fainting seizures
--diarrhea
--hallucinations
--a blistering, red, peeling rash
--jumpiness/excessively active reflexes
--coordination loss
--weak pulse
--shallow breathing

Less Serious Side Effects
The following side effects are not as serious as those listed above. Though the effects listed below may not be emergent, patients who experience them should consult a physician to report any changes in their body or behavior. The physician may choose to adjust the patient's dosage or prescribe an alternative medication, depending on the severity of these effects:
--dizziness
--vomiting
--blurry vision
--drowsiness
--appetite loss
--nausea
--constipation
--insomnia (trouble sleeping)
--flushing
--warmth and redness with a tingly feeling
--weakness
